Music lessons for all grades incorporate both Orff and Kodaly methods of music instruction. The Orff method involves singing, clapping, dancing and instrumental work for children to create their own music. The Kodaly method uses voice as the primary instrument and draws from authentic folk music and composed works through sequenced instruction to develop children’s skills and capabilities.

There are extended music opportunities beginning in 2nd grade with piano keyboarding and the use of midi keyboards. In 3rd grade students can join recorder club. 4th graders have the opportunity to join a string ensemble to learn violin in a group setting. 5th graders can join concert band and audition for the Orff performance band (Boomin’ Beats) that plays xylophones, metalaphones, and percussive instruments.
