At the end of the school year Kindergarten teacher Camille Omey took a position with Creative Science School and this created a kindergarten opening at Lewis. In July we interviewed for our kindergarten opening and I am very pleased to share with you that Leslie Dillavou will be joining our kindergarten team. Ms. Dellavou comes to us from Chief Joe/Ockley Green where she has taught kindergarten for the past five years. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Dellavou to Lewis.
Late last spring PPS allocated additional staff for each school to hire a Media Specialist. Lewis was allocated a half time position. The role of the Media Specialist is one focused on literacy, research skills, and learning to use digital literacy tools. I am happy to share with you that Cyndi Redmond will be taking on the role of Media Specialist. Tori Padellford will continue in the role of Media Assistant and will be working with Ms. Redmond. Currently Ms. Redmond is taking course work to gain her Media Specialist certification. In addition Ms. Redmond will continue to be our English as a Second Language teacher.
In June, para-educators Nick Chully and Hayley Reinauer left Lewis to pursue teaching degrees from Lewis and Clark College. This created two vacancies and I am pleased to welcome para-educators Madison Perry and Jordan Levine to Lewis. Both Madison and Jordan have worked as substitute para-educators with PPS. Please join me in welcoming Madison and Jordan to Lewis.
