Staff Changes…

We have had a few staff changes this summer and I would like to share that information with you.

Mrs. Keefer has accepted a position at Forest Heights School and will be joining the staff there to teach 4th grade. Mrs. Keefer’s new school is just minutes away from her home, and the change will allow her to be closer to her family. Mrs. Keefer has been a part of the Lewis community for the past 11 years. Her commitment to her students and to the larger school community is something I have always admired. We will miss the passion and commitment that she brought to her work, and also her humor. We wish her the very best as she makes this move.

Mrs. Keefer’s move created a vacancy at 5th grade and I am happy to share with you the news that Mr. Marchyok will be moving to 5th grade. Mr. Marchyok is very excited to take on this assignment and is looking forward to working with Ms. Jen at this grade level.

Mr. Marchyok moving to 5th grade created a vacancy at 4th grade. I am happy to share with you the news that Abby Rotwein will be joining our staff. Abby is a graduate of the Lewis & Clark Graduate Teaching Program and most recently worked at Rigler Elementary School where she also did her student teaching. Abby also has experience as a Playworks coordinator ( http://www.playworks.org/ ), having run the program at Grout Elementary School for two years. Abby brings to our staff a person with a wide range of experiences and knowledge that I believe will blend in well with our staff. I am very happy that she will be joining us and please join me in welcoming her to our staff.

Finally I recently talked with Stephanie Wieand and she and her family will be moving to Indiana and she will not be returning to Lewis in the fall. We wish Ms. Wieand and her family the best as they make this move and thank her for her work at Lewis. I am pleased to share with you the news that Elissa Dingus will move from half time to full time and will teach 3rd grade in Room 16.

I am looking forward to a great school year.

Sincerely,
Tim Lauer

Mrs. Keefer
